Steel Frame Construction & Off-Road Suspension
The Dune Racer Extreme’s foundation is our heavy-duty 600-series steel frame—the same reinforced construction we use across our most rugged vehicles. This welded tubular frame provides structural integrity that withstands years of outdoor use, from driveway racing to backyard obstacle courses.
Our Monster Traction drive system pairs oversized tires with an independent suspension design that absorbs bumps and maintains traction. The front and rear axles pivot independently, keeping all four wheels planted even when crossing uneven ground. This suspension geometry reduces jarring impacts and gives young drivers confidence to explore varied terrain.
Dual-Speed Power System & Battery Performance
We equipped the Dune Racer Extreme with a 12-volt rechargeable battery system that balances runtime with hill-climbing power. The included battery delivers approximately 40-60 minutes of continuous use depending on rider weight, terrain type, and speed selection.
The dual-speed drivetrain offers 2.5 mph in first gear for beginners learning vehicle control, and 5 mph in second gear once they’re ready for faster adventures. Our parent-controlled high-speed lockout physically restricts the shifter to first gear only, letting you manage speed as skills develop.

Charging requires 14-18 hours for a complete charge from fully depleted. We include an automatic shutoff charger that prevents overcharging. For best battery longevity, charge after each use and at least once every 30 days during periods when the vehicle isn’t being used.
The Monster Traction drive system and oversized tires handle grass, dirt, gravel, packed sand, and paved surfaces effectively. The independent suspension and 600-series steel frame construction give the vehicle capability on varied backyard terrain including slight inclines and bumpy ground.
We don’t recommend use on steep hills, near water features or pools, on public roads or driveways with vehicle traffic, or on extremely rough terrain with large rocks or significant obstacles that could damage the undercarriage.
Assembly requires only a Phillips screwdriver, which we include in the package. The main frame and body come pre-connected from the factory, and adult assembly typically takes 30-45 minutes.
You’ll attach the four wheels, install the bucket seats, connect the steering wheel, plug in the battery, and apply the included graphics decals. The instruction manual includes detailed step-by-step diagrams, and no cutting, drilling, or specialized mechanical knowledge is needed.

The parent-controlled lockout is a physical mechanism located on the shifter assembly that restricts gear selection. When engaged, it prevents the shifter from moving into the high-speed (5 mph) position, limiting the vehicle to first gear (2.5 mph) and reverse only.
To activate the lockout, move the small locking tab to the restricted position as shown in your owner’s manual. This feature lets you control maximum speed as your child develops driving skills, and you can disengage it when they’re ready for faster operation.
